I was talking with someone shooting at an NSCA event but can't exactly remember who it was regarding ammo for prairie dog hunting in South Dakota. The conversation was pretty short but I thought I heard them say that you either MUST have FMJ or must NOT have FMJ ammo while you're out there??? I can't find any regs on the SD website - it says no restriction on caliber, handgun or rifle, anyone else ever heard of an ammo restriction??? maybe only applicable on certain lands (private requirements)?

Let me buffer this by saying, I wouldn't shoot FMJ at them, just would probably have some with for plinking/zeroing in etc.

It was probably me Joe, I didn't say it was in the Regs but I can guarantee if a rancher catches you shooting them and there's a dead cow within 5 miles of you , guess what ?.It's just not a good idea to have them with you.On that terrain they can ricochet a long ways. But thats up to you,,,

Yeah, ok, thanks. That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I understood it right. I think it was you but I couldn't remember for sure.
